NOMA BAR
| Special Gold Leaf Edition
March 1st 2014
When we first released our
Noma Bar
screenprint editions back in the autumn, they were very well received by visitors to art fairs in both London and New York, with many selling to admirers who were charmed by Noma’s clever imagery paired with the beautifully executed printing.
This week sees the launch of three special versions of the set of three:
Look Out
,
Evolutionary Thought
and
Facing Up
. Each in an edition of just 3, these luxurious versions contain large areas of hand applied real 22-carat gold leaf and at the same large scale as the previous editions of 50, which featured shimmering gold ink instead of the leafing, are just simply stunning.
Noma is a visual communicator who is best known for his intelligent and captivating use of positive and negative space to create imagery in the simplest form possible. His aim as an artist is to portray a potent message through his work and although at first these pieces may seem as though they’re just of animals, there’s an underlying message within each one that goes beyond this first association, encouraging us to look beyond what we initially see for the concealed meaning.
Evolutionary Thought sees a pelican with its mouth wide open, the negative space inside forming the image of the fish that keeps him alive. In Facing Up, a bird buries its head in the sand as Noma takes the well known idiom we often use to describe ignoring something into visual play. Noma loves to tell a story and to make us think in the simplest and purest way possible.
The gold leaf versions are extremely exclusive being an edition of only three. As of today one set has been sold and another set have been reserved. The leafing has been laid by hand onto each one and the results are just stunning. If you’re looking for something extravagant and lavish for your walls, you won’t be disappointed.
The prints are now available to buy online, or if you would prefer to come in to our Clerkenwell Road office and view them in person this can also be arranged.

LUCIE BENNETT
| ‘Delphine’, ‘Marianne’ and ‘Romy’
Presenting three French girls into her cast of savvy and confident females, Lucie Bennett introduced the ‘Naked Burgundies’ on a London spring evening. The strong feminine sexuality - one that confronts the audience - is apparent in many of Bennett’s work; at other times her female subjects are portrayed in a private moment of contemplation, seemingly oblivious to the viewer’s gaze. Bennett’s controlled, sensual lines and her conscious use of a refined burgundy palette in the Burgundy nudes, embraces Delphine, Marianne and Romy in flattering warm, dark red hues.

NOMA BAR
| ’Full Bodied 1’ and ‘Full Bodied 2’
Instantly recognisable, the award-winning works by Noma Bar teases the audience and delivers the core message through arresting clarity and humour. From a primary image, the artist applies positive and negative space, taking the viewer by the hand into multiple layers of the imagery - where one image leads to the next. Conveying complex messages of public matters, politics or simply perplexing words of double meaning, Bar is not afraid to be thought-provoking, however, he always stays on the right side of appropriateness. Released in 2014, Full Bodied 1 and Full Bodied 2 represent a part of Bar’s fun-loving works.
